Welcome to the Mad Cows' blog

Welcome to the Mad Cows' blog!

The Mad Cows is the EUI's female five-a-side soccer team. We play just for fun and absolute beginners are warmly welcomed. Playing with the Mad Cows is a nice way to do some sports and meet new people to share some beers with. The members of the Mad Cows come from all environments and all nationalities: EUI researchers from all the departments, partners, members of the staff and people from outside the EUI world.
See you on the pitch!

... And a Happy Mad Year!

The time for panetone, carols, snowmen and relaxing evenings close to the fireplace is over. We are back in Florence, for trainings and tournament, to Mad Cows' life. We had a tough "welcome back" to the pitch last week but we kept on smiling.

The new year has brought really good news with it since we have (or we will have in the next few days) some players back with us on the pitch. Gemma, Emilie, Marilú and Ieva are not injured anymore; Inken and Anne are back from holidays. Marion has returned from her workfield in Palestine and she will join us both in the trainings and the tournament. We also have two new additions to our Saturday trainings: Nicoletta, an old glory of the Mad Cows, and Jofre, The Librarian. To all of you, welcome and/or welcome back!

We also have good news about our two remaining injured players because they are getting better: Sara can now run quite well and Bea's foot is not blue and swollen anymore. Most probably they will be back in February. To both of you, we are looking forward to have you back on the pitch soon!

But we have some bad news as well, although we hope they will be only temporary. The nightmare of exams and deadlines is getting closer and we have some players (even the coach) who are getting nervous and stressed about that. To all of you, keep calm and come to play: kicking some asses and ankles (even some balls, from time to time) is really good for your PhD nerves! At last but not least, Núria has injured her back and she has to rest for some days: we wish her a quick recovery and lots of gluten free chocolate cakes which the members of the team will take turns to bring her :P

We wish you all a happy new year, dozens of goals (but please, in the proper goal!), plenty of energy to run forwards & backwards on the pitch and tons of fun on and outside the pitch with the herd of Mad Cows!
